16x16in - Mixed Media Oil on Canvas
There is a moment when the trees begin to part.
Light widens.
The horizon appears.
You are still held—
but something expands.
You don’t have to leave what steadies you to move toward what opens you.
Step forward.
Sheila’s Note
This piece is a nod to the maritime forests along the Crystal Coast of North Carolina, where I often walk. The path through the trees opens to the Atlantic, and that shift—from rooted shelter to open horizon—never gets old. It’s a place that reminds me that expansion doesn’t require leaving what grounds you. Sometimes it simply means walking through it.
